Severe thunderstorms and downpours continue across parts of Texas while torrential rain in thunderstorms advances northward through Oklahoma. Any severe thunderstorms could produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour could quickly lead to flooding as rainfall totals could locally top 4 to 6 inches.
The heavy rain and thunderstorms will expand into Kansas, eastern Nebraska, western Missouri and western Iowa overnight into Saturday, bringing an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain to these fairly saturated areas.
Any lingering severe and the heavy rain will shift more squarely into the Mississippi Valley on Saturday.
Across the Upper Midwest, including areas from the eastern Dakotas, across Minnesota into Wisconsin, a steady rain, heavy at times, will fall. This may result in flooding of steams and creeks.
Snow, possibly producing a few additional inches of accumulation, continues over parts of eastern Montana and northwest North Dakota while freezing rain and ice plague Duluth, Minnesota.
